This contemporary home was originally designed by Rodney Walker and completed in 2006 by his son Craig, with a brilliant sensitive reinterpretation incorporating today’s technological and green resources. The home was constructed just outside of Ojai and takes full advantage of the dramatic mountain views with a seamless indoor/outdoor transition. According to the current listing, the home was “constructed by the architect’s son using original drawings for arts and architecture case study house #16.

Rodney Walker was a midcentury modern designer and builder who specialized in residential architecture in the Southern California area. He never became a licensed Architect, in fact, when he was offered an honorary degree he politely refused. Walker seems to have identified himself as a designer and found creativity as a builder. He contributed three designs to Arts & Architecture magazine’s Case Study House program during the late 1940s. Many of his homes were photographed by Julius Shulman for Arts & Architecture magazine, Better Homes and Gardens, Architectural Record, Sunset Magazine, and the Los Angeles Times Home magazine.
This property is currently listed at $1,429,000 with Coldwell Banker of Ojai.
