Frederick Fisher and Partners Architects – Ojai Residence

This beautiful Ojai contemporary was completed by Frederick Fisher and Partners in early 2008. The 2,500-square-foot home was built for renowned New York sculptor Elyn Zimmerman and is situated up a steep winding road amongst lush orange groves. Here is what the NY Times had to say regarding the home following its completion:

The house is spatially organized like a loft, with her studio and a guest room downstairs and the main living spaces, including a deck running the length of the living room, with its double-height windows, upstairs. Ms. Zimmerman was influenced by Akira Kurosawa’s 1957 film “Throne of Blood,” in which the function of rooms changes with the clap of a hand, a throne replaced with a table, for instance, which is then replaced with a tatami mat for sleeping.
