Panoramic Contemporary, Santa Barbara – Roger Kurath AIA/SIA

Prior to the devastating Tea Fire, this spectacular home had exceptional panoramic ocean, island, and mountain views. Co-designed by renowned Swiss architect Roger Kurath and located at the peak of Camino Verde, this home included some remarkable features. Highlights consisted of a rounded 200-gallon salt-water aquarium,  radiant “warm floor” heating, 2 story floor to ceiling windows encircling the perimeter, 2-car garage (air-conditioned), pool & pool bath with wetbar, and a professional style gym.

The exterior remolding included a waterfall and Koi pond, and a putting green (professionally built to PGA specifications). A water drainage system was installed along with terraced walkways, using over 500 rail ties and cedar posts brought from Colorado. The landscaping, using many California Native Plants, was designed by Botanical designer and author Carol Bornstein. There was an efficient irrigation system throughout the property. The exterior lighting was designed to enhance the home and landscaping without interfering from the natural beauty. Unfortunately this home fell victim to the  Tea Fire and only the foundation and pool remain today. The pictures showcased in this post were taken prior to the fire.
